Stoye Foundation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Stoye Foundation was established on November 12, 1991 and is based in Marburg . It is a foundation under civil law with legal capacity, succeeding the dependent foundation of the same name that has existed in the Working Group for Central German Family Research since 1971 .

The foundation was established through the will of the pharmacist Rudolf Albert Julius Stoye from Speyer (November 26, 1898– January 3, 1969) and the authorized signatory Arno Stoye from Hagen (1904–1995). Her ancestors lived in Anhalt for centuries as farmers and landowners and, through many side lines, had historically shaped families such as Wendelin , Melanchthon , Cranach , v. Gneisenau , patrician families in Zerbst , Aschersleben and Stendal or the Anhalt Princely House.

The purpose of the foundation is the genealogical recording of families and genders in central and eastern Germany . The purpose of the foundation is preferably fulfilled by its own series ( series of the Stoye Foundation ) of more than 50 volumes, which has been published since 1971 and in which primarily previously unpublished source material is edited. A number of citizen books appeared in the series, such as those of the cities of Spandau , Weimar and Erfurt .

The documents of the Stoye Foundation, in particular founding and policy papers, reports from the meetings of the Board of Trustees, expert opinions, correspondence with genealogists and the DAGV as well as publishing negotiations are in the Saxon State Archives, Leipzig State Archives.
