Grün ist die Heide is a German feature film based on motifs by Hermann Löns from 1932 and the model for the much better-known remake Grün ist die Heide from 1951. The film was released in Austria under the title The mysterious Wildschütz . It premiered on November 20, 1932 in Hanover.
action
The young forester Walter wants to catch a dangerous poacher in the Lüneburg Heath. He pursues a man into the house of the landlord Lüdersen and gets to know his daughter Grete. Grete discovers that her father, who used to own the whole area, is the poacher. She asks him to move into town with her.
Walter can't get hold of the poacher. Oberforstrat Schliepemann then has the entire site converted. The traveling merchant woodpecker is arrested as a poacher. Lüdersen had surprised Woodpecker and was fatally wounded by him. He dies while putting Grete's hand in Walter's.
additional
When the film was remake in 1951, the plot was given a catchy update, in that the poaching of the landowner was justified with the eviction from home. Instead of the tragic ending, there was a happy ending .

- Film Week: “ Good people (we have them at home and don't need abroad), bright, open faces among young and old. It's like the sun is reflected in their eyes. The audience was thrilled. "
