Peter Voss

Peter Voss (born June 29, 1891 in Fiefhusen ; † January 9, 1979 in Nortorf near Kiel ) was a German actor .

Life

Voss initially worked in a commercial company and then participated in the First World War. In 1919 he took acting lessons and made his debut at the Kiel Theater in the 1919/1920 season . His career took him to the United Theaters of Bochum and Duisburg, to the Stadttheater Basel and in 1927 to the Saltenburg Theaters in Berlin.

He now lived in Berlin, where he played on various stages. Since 1925 he has mostly appeared in feature films as a lover and bon vivant . In the Luis Trenker film The Battle for the Matterhorn , he played Edward Whymper , in green is the heather he was the main actor as a young forester and partner of Camilla Spira . Despite these and other leading roles, he never achieved the status of a film star like Willy Fritsch, who had a similar disposition . His embodiment of death in the extremely dark legendary film Ferryman Maria by Frank Wysbar, made in 1935, was unusual . After the Second World War, he mainly played theater and also took on some film roles. Most recently he was seen as Captain Petersen in the war drama Night fell over Gotenhafen .
