Hugo Werner-Kahle (born August 5, 1882 in Aachen , † May 1, 1961 in Berlin ) was a German actor.

Life

After training with Franz Deutschinger in Wiesbaden , he made his debut at the Residenztheater there in 1898 . After further stages he played for several years from 1903 at the Residenztheater in Hanover . Werner-Kahle was mainly a father actor, especially as Jüttner in Alt-Heidelberg , Werner in Minna von Barnhelm , General in Feydeau's Die Dame vom Maxim , Grobitsch in Hartleben's Rosenmontag and Göttling in Sudermann's Stein unter Steinen . Before the First World War he came to Berlin and continued his work there at the Komische Oper and the Schillertheater .

From the end of the First World War he was also a film actor, especially in Viennese studios. He became a busy supporting actor. In addition, he also acted at the Vienna Volkstheater . From 1936 onwards, he significantly restricted his film work. He now gained importance as the director of the drama school at the Deutsches Theater (1937–1946).

After the end of the war he was only active as a stage actor in the stands and at the theater on Kurfürstendamm . He was married to the actress Annemarie Steinsieck .
