action
The film is a time image from the early post-war period and deals with the disreputable financial transactions in banking circles. At the center of the action is a con man who founds a financial institution for his financially fraudulent machinations. He thinks that the money is on the street and you just have to grab it. In order to secure his windy actions, he abuses his own son-in-law, the banker Lister, who heads his own bank, and uses him for his machinations.
In order to keep the family name Lister pure, the banker, when he uncovered the frauds of the father-in-law, first wanted to fulfill the obligations entered into towards the father-in-law. But Lister's brother intervenes to protect the family bank from further harm. The victim of all these interfamily entanglements is Mabel, the banker's bride. The relationship with her loved one does not survive these dramatic developments, and the banker leaves her. But Mabel does not stay alone for long and is then married by Lister's brother.

criticism
Paimann's film lists summed up: “The direction is careful and brings nice novelties, the presentation is also generous. The portrayal was consistently satisfactory, Werner-Kahle in particular did a great job, Schünzel also deserves a mention, all the more since this time he [has] been unfaithful to the embodiment of intriguing roles. Liane Haid is very dear in a blonde wig and also worthy of recognition as an actor. The weakest is the subject, which could only be adjusted by forcibly stretching the length of the film. The photos satisfied. "
