background

The shooting took place in the summer of 1928. Max Knaake and Fritz Maurischat were responsible for the buildings . The film had its world premiere on October 24, 1928 in the Tauentzienpalast in Berlin . The music composition was arranged and conducted by Pasquale Perris.

censorship

The Berlin Film Inspectorate approved the film in 1928 with limited editing requirements, but imposed a youth ban. At the request of the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior, the film inspectorate again dealt with the film and, by decision of January 16, 1930, had a further 70 meters (2-3%) of the film cut out with sexually offensive scenes. However, the supervisory authority did not share the accusation that the film shook trust in the judiciary, the code of criminal procedure and the penal system as a whole. In March 1933, the film was completely banned at the request of the Bavarian NSDAP regional film office and the Bavarian Ministry of Justice.
