House book

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A house book contains the ownership successes of the houses in a city or in a village . A house book of a village that mainly or only contains the ownership successions of the farms is often referred to as a property chronicle .

As a rule, a house book contains information on the year of the change of ownership, the purchase price , the deposit , the name of the buyer and the family relationship, if any, to the previous owner (son, nephew, son-in-law , etc.) as well as the source of these data. In the case of houses that are still standing in the 20th century, this data is often supplemented by a photo of the house and a detailed description, if the house book is intended to provide evidence of the building history rather than the personal and family history.

Sources for a house book are z. B. Lean files, inheritance books, stock books; Kurmuds register , purchase contracts, lease contracts, mortgages, marriage contracts, donations, fire cadastre, wills, lists of homage, lists of residents, etc. v. a. more. Sometimes they can also be used to determine the year the house was built or purchased.

If a house book contains not only the names of the owners, but also the names and dates of the family members of the house owner and / or all house residents, then a house book flows into a local family book . Another possible enrichment are family photos .

House book or property chronicle, expanded to a place family book, are the most important contribution of genealogy to the home history of our communities . In some areas, e.g. B. in Bavaria , the establishment of a family register by house is encouraged by the fact that the church registers are already sorted by house.
