Burgstall is a municipality in the northeast of the Börde district in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany). It is a member community of the Elbe-Heide community with its seat in the community of Rogätz .

geography

The municipality of Burgstall in the eastern area of ​​the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide is crossed by the Dollgraben , one of the numerous Tanger source streams. Its official name is Colbitzer Landbach , popularly it is called Bäcke . The beaver has returned to this area for several years . The wooded area north of Burgstall rises to the northwest and reaches 117  m above sea level. NHN and borders on the eastern part of the large Altmark military training area . The town of Tangerhütte is about 9 km away. The district borders on the district of Stendal in the north and east . Burgstall is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Tangerhütte in the north, Angern in the southeast, Colbitz in the south, Westheide in the southwest and Gardelegen in the west.

history

The family of Bismarck was in 1345 by the Bavarian elector of Brandenburg because of special services of the Nicolaus von Bismarck in administration, with the castle Postal invested . In 1562 she had to exchange Burgstall for Krevese and the East Elbe estates of Schönhausen and Fischbeck, and Burgstall was the seat of the Burgstall domain office until 1860 . In the district reform of 1816, Burgstall came to the Wolmirstedt district .

GDR (1949–1990)

The coat of arms was designed by the municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch and included in the approval process. It combines elements of the coats of arms of the four districts of Burgstall, Cröchern, Dolle and Sandbeiendorf. The Hifthorn comes from Burgstall, the scythe and flail from Sandbeiendorf, the stag pole from Cröchern and the stag on the wall from Dolle.

The coat of arms was approved on March 29, 1996 by the Magdeburg Regional Council.

Economy and Infrastructure

From the village of Burgstall, country roads lead to Dolle on federal road 189 ( Magdeburg - Stendal ), to Tangerhütte and to Angern / Rogätz . The nearest train station is in Mahlwinkel, 7 kilometers away on the Magdeburg – Wittenberge line . The Altmark motorway from Magdeburg to Schwerin (under construction) will pass near Burgstall and will have its own junction between Dolle and Burgstall.
