Sandbeiendorf is a district of the municipality of Burgstall in the Börde district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Sandbeiendorf east of the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide is crossed by the Tanger -Quellbach, which flows into the Elbe near Tangermünde . The surroundings of Sandbeiendorf are slightly hilly and gradually rise to the west. The town of Tangerhütte is about 8 km away. The district borders in the north on the district of Stendal .

history

On January 1, 2010, the previously independent communities of Sandbeiendorf, Cröchern and Dolle merged with Burgstall to form the new community of Burgstall.

Architectural monuments and memorials

In the center of the village is the Sandbeiendorf village church, which dates back to the Romanesque period .

A collective grave has been laid out in the local cemetery for five unknown concentration camp prisoners who lost their lives on a death march in April 1945. There is a war memorial south of the church.

Economy and Infrastructure

Sandbeiendorf is mainly characterized by agriculture, including horse breeding and organic farm.

Pig production

The pig farm "van Gennip Tierzuchtanlage GmbH" of the Dutch large-scale producer comprises over 60,000 pigs. Official controls confirmed allegations of the animal rights activists at Animal Rights Watch , which had documented serious irregularities in 2013, whereupon the operator of the plant had to pay a fine. A complaint was made against the animal rights activists for trespassing. In the second instance, an acquittal was made before the Magdeburg Regional Court because of a justifying state of emergency according to § 34 StGB. The judgment is not yet final, as the plaintiff appealed to the OLG Naumburg.

Transport links

From Sandbeiendorf country roads lead to Dolle on the federal road 189 ( Magdeburg - Stendal ), to Tangerhütte and via Uchtdorf to Angern / Rogätz . The nearest train station is in the community of Mahlwinkel, seven kilometers away, on the Magdeburg-Wittenberg Railway .
