Sandbeiendorf village church
The village church Sandbeiendorf is the Protestant church of the village Sandbeiendorf in Saxony-Anhalt .
History and architecture
The core of the church goes back to the Romanesque . The hall church has a retracted choir and a semicircular apse . The church, made of granite ashlars , was redesigned in the Baroque style in 1659 . In the area of the apse, however, a slit window has been preserved, which was originally a bit tapered. The priest's gate is also still there. On the west side there is a tower that is mighty in relation to the nave , which dates back to 1751. The tower was built from brick bricks . Today both the nave and the tower are plastered. The tower facade is structured by pilaster strips . The top of the tower is designed as a flat, curved hood from which a narrow tip grows.
The interior of the church is spanned by a flat ceiling. There is a short gallery on the west side . The triumphal arch opening is irregular. The decor is simple and largely dates from the second half of the 17th century. Around 1965 a simplified repair was carried out. There is an old iron-studded door on the sacrament niche .
A bronze bell from the 13th century, whose shape is reminiscent of a sugar loaf, is remarkable . To the east of the church there is a square grave stele in the churchyard. The stele, made in the style of classicism , bears reliefs with symbols of virtue. There is a war memorial south of the church .
