Prentice Hall

Prentice Hall is an imprint of Pearson Education, Inc. based in Upper Saddle River , New Jersey . Pearson Education is owned by the British Pearson PLC .

The originally independent publishing house was founded in 1913 by the law professor Charles Gerstenberg and his student Richard Ettinger . The name was composed of the maiden names of the mothers of Gerstenberg and Ettinger. In 1984, Prentice Hall was taken over by Simon & Schuster and in 1998 it was auctioned by its parent company Viacom to Pearson.

Prentice Hall was the first US publisher for academic textbooks and textbooks, but has also always given very idiosyncratic and interesting authors a platform. So has z. B. Jane Roberts published her Seth books, which were successful in the 1970s, in part at Prentice Hall.
