Helen Fielding (born February 19, 1958 in Morley , West Yorkshire ) is a British author and journalist .

life and career

Fielding studied English at St Anne's College , Oxford and began working as a reporter for the BBC in 1979 . She has been involved with Comic Relief since 1985 and wrote and produced documentaries about Africa, among other things. In 1989 she researched the Thames TV documentary Where Hunger is a Weapon about the rebel war in South Sudan. Her experiences formed the basis for her first novel Cause Celeb , published in 1994 , which was published in Germany in 2000 under the title Hummer zum Dinner .

From 1990 to 1999 Fielding worked as a journalist and columnist for various London newspapers, including the Sunday Times , The Independent and The Daily Telegraph . From 1995 her columns on Bridget Jones appeared in the Independent , which became an international success as novels in 1996 and 1999. Bridget Jones - Chocolate for Breakfast and Bridget Jones - On the Edge of Madness were also filmed in 2001 and 2004. In 2001, the humorous "life guide " Bridget Jones's Guide to Life , written by Helen Fielding from the point of view of Bridget Jones, appeared in favor of Comic Relief . She has also published a short story in Nick Hornby's short story book Speaking with the Angel and another in the Ox-tales short story collection for Oxfam's benefit .

Fielding was in a relationship with Simpsons writer Kevin Curran from 1999 to 2009 and had their first son in February 2004, followed by a daughter in 2006. In 2003, she loaned her marked alter ego in the 13th episode ( A Star is Born-Again ) the 14th Simpsons season her voice. Fielding lives in London and Los Angeles.
