Plot and background

Sandy Archer, a single parent, is Ben's mother and meets with government attorney Jack Sturgess. Ben tries to sabotage his mother's relationship.

Jack and Ben take part in a boy scouts' father and son excursion and eventually become friends.

The comedy was shot in Los Angeles and Vancouver . It grossed $ 40 million at the US box office.

Hal Hinson wrote in the Washington Post (in the March 3, 1995 issue) that the only time Chevy Chase could show less energy was if he were reanimated.
Peter Stack wrote in the San Francisco Chronicle (March 3, 1995 issue) that the comedy was predictable "like a phone book."

Awards

Jimmy Baker was nominated for the Young Artist Award in 1996.
