Jonathan Taylor Thomas (born September 8, 1981 in Bethlehem , Pennsylvania ; born Jonathan Taylor Weiss ) is an American actor . He was best known as Randy Taylor in the sitcom Listen Who's That Hammering .

Life

Thomas was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in the Lehigh Valley region to Stephen Weiss and Claudine Taylor. In 1991, his parents divorced. He has German-Jewish and Portuguese ancestors. He has a brother named Joel Thomas Weiss, whose middle name he adapted as his last name to avoid confusion with the well-known actor Jonathan Weiss .

After a few semesters at Harvard University , he moved to the University of St Andrews in Scotland as a foreign student. He is an opponent of abortion and was active at times in some organizations against abortion. He also has frühester Youth strict vegetarians .

Career

In 1986 he took his family to Roseville, California , where he was cast in a Burger King commercial when he was eight . In 1987 he received the voice actor role of the dog spot in the Disney production The Adventures of Spot . He also voiced the young Simba in The Lion King and the main character in The Legend of Pinocchio .

Thomas became famous at a young age for his role as Randy (Randall William Taylor) in the home improvement sitcom Hör mal, wer da hammert , which initially ran in Germany under the title Der Heimwerker on ARD; the original US title is Home Improvement .

He's one of the few regular cast on the show who didn't play all of the time - he chose this move because he wanted to focus on his university life.

In 1998 he played the leading role in the film Eine wüsten Bescherung (Original title: I'll Be Home for Christmas ). He can also be seen in the films Tom and Huck , Wild America , Walking Across Egypt and Common Ground, among others. In 1999 he played a hustler boy in Speedway Junky in Las Vegas.

Until 2005 he was seen regularly in film and television productions. He then appeared in four episodes of Last Man Standing from 2013 to 2015 . In 2013, 2014 and most recently in 2016 he directed an episode of the series. Since then he has not appeared as an actor or director (as of September 2019).

His German dubbing voice from Hör mal, wer da hammert , Clemens Ostermann (1984-2007), died unexpectedly at the age of just 22 during a dubbing on Bavarian radio as a result of a pulmonary embolism .
