Roseville is a city in Placer County in the north of the US state California with 103,609 inhabitants (as of 2004 ). The urban area has a size of 79.0 km². Due to the high level of urban sprawl , Roseville has now grown together with the Sacramento metropolitan area , even though downtown Roseville is actually 32 kilometers from Sacramento.
In the course of the railway expansion of the Southern Pacific Railroad , Roseville gained in importance and received city rights in 1909. Not far from the train station, on both sides of the tracks, is the oldest part of Roseville. Among other things, it houses the Tower Theater from 1940.
