Cops & Robbersons - That knocks down the strongest cop (Original title: Cops and Robbersons ) is an American comedy film directed by Michael Ritchie from 1994 .

action

The gangster Osborn lives in the neighborhood of the Robberson family. Police officers Jake Stone and Tony Moore ask the Robbersons to use the family home to watch the criminal. Norman Robberson, who enjoys watching old crime films, is thrilled. He tries to help the police officers by visiting his neighbor and installing microphones in his house. These unsolicited actions annoy Stone.

Moore falls in love with Norman's daughter Cindy. Osborn realizes that he is being watched and raids the family in their house, but is overwhelmed.

Reviews

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times on April 15, 1994 that the film was "still a fish-out-of-the-water film" in which the characters would leave their familiar surroundings. Norman Robberson's character would be considered "mentally retarded" in real life. Since the other characters do not seem to notice this, they are either “mentally disabled” as well or the actors “simply recite their lines of dialogue”. The reviewer wrote that he couldn't laugh while watching the film.

The magazine Cinema wrote that Michael Ritchie was shooting up "a firework of ideas", but was not "hit the mark". Only the portrayal of Jack Palance is "a real bright spot".

The lexicon of international films said that the film was "despite its clumsy ending, an unspectacularly exhilarating crime comedy, originally conceived and played with pleasure."

background

The film was in Hawthorne ( California ) and in the Californian Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City rotated. It grossed approximately $ 11.4 million in US cinemas .
