Jonas Hackett's farm is in financial trouble; the railway company JP Stiles wants to take it over. Jonas' twelve-year-old son, Daniel, often dreams. During one of his reveries, he is suddenly transported to a desert and there he meets the Pecos Bill, Paul Bunyan and John Henry, known from western legends. You help him take action against JP Stiles and save the farm.

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times on March 24, 1995 that the film was a heartwarming adventure film for the whole family. He is visually "adorable" . The bad guys are people by name and with a story.

The lexicon of the international film judged: “A western, especially in the adventurous dream sequences, elaborately and successfully staged in a clever way.
