Carlo Domeniconi

Carlo Domeniconi (born February 20, 1947 in Cesena ) is an Italian guitarist and composer .

Life

Domeniconi learned guitar with Carmen Lenzi-Mozzani (daughter of Luigi Mozzani ) at the Conservatory in Pesaro until 1964 . He then moved to West Berlin to study with Erich Bürger , a student of Bruno Henze . He also studied composition with Heinz Friedrich Hartig at the Berlin University of the Arts . From 1969 to 1992 he was professor of guitar there. He also taught at the Istanbul State Conservatory from 1977 to 1980.

Of the more than 20 guitar concerts he has composed, about half are for solo guitar; the other half is for different groups with guitar. His compositions were influenced by Turkish, Arabic and Indian music. Guitarists such as David Russell , Carlo Marchione , John Williams , Dale Kavanagh , Shin-ichi Fukuda , Alvaro Pierri , Marco Socías , Pavel Steidl and the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet performed his works.
