Dale Kavanagh

Dale Kavanagh (* 1958 in Halifax ) is a Canadian guitarist and professor at the Detmold University of Music .

Artistic career

In addition to studying guitar at the University of Toronto and the Music Academy of the City of Basel with Oscar Ghiglia , she attended masterclasses with members of the Juilliard String Quartet , the Emerson String Quartet and John Cage . Dale Kavanagh is a guest at major music and guitar festivals around the world and has given over 1,000 concerts in more than 40 countries as a soloist and with her husband and musical partner Thomas Kirchhoff in the Amadeus Guitar Duo .

Many composers ( Harald Genzmer , Roland Dyens , Carlo Domeniconi , Jaime M. Zenamon , Stephen Dodgson , Martin Herchenröder , Stephen Funk-Pearson , Bruce Shavers ) have dedicated their works to Dale Kavanagh - including several concerts for guitar and orchestra . She played as a soloist with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig , the Berlin Symphony Orchestra , the Prague Chamber Orchestra , the Thuringia Philharmonic Gotha and many other orchestras worldwide.

Since 1999 Dale Kavanagh has been professor of a guitar class at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold , Dortmund department, and since 2004 in Detmold itself. From 2003 to 2010 Dale Kavanagh was visiting professor at Acadia University in Canada. She also teaches at the Guitar Academy in Koblenz.

She publishes her records exclusively at Hänssler Classic . Her compositions are published by Hubertus Nogatz (Essen), Chanterelle (Heidelberg) and Cari (Rome).
