Erich Bürger (guitarist)

Erich Bürger (born August 4, 1902 in Berlin , † May 8, 1994 in Wiesbach (Pfalz) ) was a German guitarist and music teacher .

Life

After completing elementary school and doing an apprenticeship as a machinist, Bürger studied guitar with Bruno Henze , who also lived near him on Lützowstraße (Berlin-Tiergarten), and with Heinrich Jordan (1877– approx. 1933) in Berlin. He worked as a guitarist in the Berlin Mandolin and Lute Orchestra eV from 1896 (conducted by Carl Henze ), in the Berlin Chamber Mandolin Orchestra (conducted by Bruno Henze), at theaters, the German State Opera, and in film and radio. Since 1925 he gave lessons as a certified guitar teacher.

From 1932 Eich Bürger (primary guitar) formed the Berlin guitar quartet together with Bruno Henze (quint bass guitar / arrangements), Willi Schlinske (1st third guitar) and Gerhard Tucholski (2nd third guitar) . From 1949 to 1953 it was the Berlin guitar trio , without Tucholski. Both formations became known through concerts and radio recordings.

He then worked for ten years in the Berliner Ensemble under Bertolt Brecht . From 1951 to 1972 he taught at the Municipal Conservatory , the 1966 Stern Conservatory of Music Academy Berlin was annexed. Among his most important students were Werner Pauli , Jürgen Kliem (* 1938), Peter Weirauch , Herbert Simmeties (1941–1996), Carlo Domeniconi and Klaus-Michael Krause (* 1948).

His preferred guitars were instruments by José Ramírez (1922–1995) and Hermann Hauser .

In 1957 he published the record Springtime with four folk songs together with the Solo Quartet Berlin (Singing) .
