Willi Schlinske (born January 15, 1904 , † August 10, 1969 in East Berlin ) was a German guitarist , mandolin player and music teacher .

Life

Willi Schlinske received guitar lessons from Heinrich Jordan (1877– approx. 1933) in Berlin. From 1932 to 1949 he played the 1st third guitar in the Berlin guitar quartet, together with Gerhard Tucholski (2nd third guitar), Erich Bürger (primary guitar) and Bruno Henze (quint bass guitar, arrangements). From 1949 to 1953 it was the Berlin guitar trio , without Tucholski. Both formations became known through concerts and radio recordings. Schlinske taught guitar and mandolin from 1950 to around 1965 at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin and then privately. Even Wolf Biermann , Nina Hagen and Henry Hübchen learned the basics of playing the guitar with him. In the 1950s and 1960s he worked as a guitarist at the Deutsches Theater and the Kammerspiele . In addition, he and his students were responsible for mandolin music for the Berliner Rundfunk . The composer Rudolf Wagner-Régeny created works for him, including his late guitar pieces Sonatina and Five Miniatures from 1951.
