The Landesmusikrat Berlin eV is the regional music council responsible for the state of Berlin . As an umbrella organization, it represents the interests of the institutions and associations that shape Berlin's musical life and which in turn participate in the State Music Council. It sees itself as a coordination office and has an advisory role to the Berlin Senate and the parties of the Berlin House of Representatives . In his own projects he is involved in shaping musical life in Berlin. The office is located at Lübecker Straße 23 in Berlin.
tasks and goals
The aim of the Landesmusikrat is to promote musical life. It represents the music-political interests of its members vis-à-vis the media and politics. He sees himself as the “guardian of artistic and cultural interests” in the “area of tension between the social and economic requirements of the city of Berlin”. Its activities are based on the guidelines of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of Cultural Diversity and "is committed to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage, contemporary artistic forms of expression and the cultures of other countries in Germany."
The members are 47 associations and over 10 individual members.
As concrete tasks in the statutes u. a. called: the promotion of music education , professional music practice such as amateur music-making, the development and promotion of understanding of music in the public and the promotion of intercultural dialogue .
organs
The organs of the National Music Council are the General Assembly , the Presidium and the General Secretary . All association and individual members belong to the general assembly. The Presidium consists of a President, a Vice-President, a Treasurer, the Honorary Presidents and the respective regional representatives of the music schools , the State Music Academy , the State Association of Music Education, the Choir Association , the Association of German Music Schools and the State Committee for Jugend musiziert Berlin. The LMR is represented on the supervisory board of the Landesmusikakademie Berlin.
Projects
Projects of the Landesmusikrat Berlin are the competition Jugend musiziert Berlin, Jugend forscht : Musik, the Landesjugendorchester Berlin, the Berliner JugendJazzOrchester, the Landesjugendensemble Neue Musik Berlin, the Berliner Jazztreff, the Berliner Orchester- und Chortreff and the award of an Instrument of the Year . The cooperation project is the Landeszupforchester Berlin. The LMR is involved in the “Music for Refugees in Berlin” initiative with its projects.
The projects of the State Music Council are under the patronage of the Governing Mayor of Berlin and are funded by the Senate Chancellery for Cultural Affairs and the Senate Administration for Education, Youth and Science .
In 2015, the State Music Council developed a master plan for musical education in Berlin, which encompasses and coordinates the areas of school, pre-school and extracurricular education (music schools).
