The Landesmusikrat Rheinland-Pfalz eV represents the interests of around 70 members as an umbrella organization. The Rhineland-Palatinate State Music Council is one of 16 State Music Councils and a member of the German Music Council . The office is located at Kaiserstraße 26–30 in Mainz .

tasks and goals

The Landesmusikrat has the task of promoting music in Rhineland-Palatinate. It is the umbrella organization for musical life, for amateur musicians as well as for professional music, for choirs and orchestras . Its initiatives are aimed at a. on the training of music professions, music education in kindergarten, school and outside of school. He represents musicology as well as the music industry and is involved in the search for solutions in educational and cultural-political issues.

Since January 1, 2013, the State Music Council has been the sponsor of all five State Youth Ensembles and the state competitions “ Jugend musiziert ” and “ Jugend jazzt ”.

Furthermore, since 2005 it has been distributing the special-purpose proceeds from the GlücksSpirale of Lotto Rhineland-Palatinate to its member associations using a fixed distribution key.

organs

The organs of the Landesmusikrat are the general assembly, the presidium and the office. The Presidium consists of a President, a Vice President, a Deputy President and eight other representatives from the larger member associations. The members are around 70 individual regional associations and a few individual members.

Projects

The Landesmusikrat sees itself as a source of ideas and impulses and therefore initiates new projects. The thematic complex "Music and Health" has developed as a special focus. Specialist conferences, congresses and further training courses at the Landesmusikakademie are the result of the initiatives “Music & Disability”, “Music and Dementia”, “Music and Hospice”, “Making Music 50+” and “Music and Sport”.

In order to further promote the promotion of young musicians, the “Music in the Landtag” series has been launched, with every second concert taking place with the focus on “Young musicians introduce themselves”. The performances are an opportunity for the young musicians to present themselves and to gain experience.

Since 2017, the State Music Council has been awarding the “Student Prize” for outstanding performance in the field of music, thereby underlining the importance of the subject.

Competitions

Through nationwide competitions, the State Music Council promotes talented young people and the quality of the music-making of amateur orchestras and choirs. The “Jugend musiziert” and “Jugend jazzt” competitions are aimed at young musicians, while the “State Choir Competition” and the “State Orchestra Competition” are open to all age groups.

State Music Academy

In 1982 the Landesmusikrat founded the Landesmusikakademie Rheinland-Pfalz , which was initially operated as a decentralized institution. Since 2003 it has been sponsored by a non-profit association and is located as the central state music academy in Neuwied- Engers, in the immediate vicinity of Engers Castle .
