The Lower Saxony State Music Council , as one of 16 State Music Councils, forms the umbrella organization of Lower Saxony amateur music associations and professional music practice and represents their interests at the state level. It was founded in 1978; various predecessor organizations previously existed. The association is recognized by the state of Lower Saxony and is funded by it.
