The Lower Saxony State Music Academy in Wolfenbüttel , which opened in 2009, is one of 24 music education institutions in Germany and part of the working group of music education institutions.

The Landesmusikakademie Niedersachsen, as a center for the training and further education of ensemble leaders in amateur music, for work phases of ensembles, for musical and cultural offers for children, young people and adults up to the promotion of musically gifted people, is an important component in the "Musikland Niedersachsen". With the establishment of the State Music Academy, the State Music Council of Lower Saxony handed over the sponsorship of the State Youth Orchestra to it. It is thus the home of the ensembles Lower Saxony Youth Symphony Orchestra , State Youth Choir Lower Saxony , Youth Jazz Orchestra Lower Saxony "Windmachine", State Youth Wind Orchestra Lower Saxony and State Youth Ensemble New Music Lower Saxony.

The academy is also a service house for the music associations of Lower Saxony, for music-pedagogical work with talented young people, for advanced training conferences for qualification and for scientific conferences on music culture in Lower Saxony.

In the Landesmusikakademie take place

Rooms and equipment

The academy, which opened in August 2009, has an orchestra hall (360 m²), a chamber music hall (160 m²), a rhythm room (100 m²), a percussion studio (68 m²), a teaching studio (132 m²) and three seminar rooms (50–65 m²).

The institution has, among other four wings, four pianos, an extensive orchestral instruments, percussion, mallets ( "Mallets Percussion"), Orff instruments, electronics and equipment for bands.

The professional recording studio can be used to make recordings from all of the academy's rooms. There are sound systems, stage lights, conference technology, large projectors, flipcharts and white boards .

The youth hostel of the city of Wolfenbüttel, which was built at the same time, belongs to the same building complex. It offers 129 beds in one to four-bed rooms, a dining room with kitchen, a cafeteria, seminar and leisure rooms.

Since July 2012, Villa Seeliger has had additional chamber music, choir and band rehearsal rooms in the Seeliger Park adjacent to the Academy, as well as the academy's offices. For this purpose, the building was renovated in accordance with a listed building.
