The State Music Council of Hesse ( LMR Hessen ) is the State Music Council responsible for the State of Hesse . It represents the musical interests of its members at the state level, coordinates their interests and organizes the musical competitions at the state level, including youth music and youth jazz . Overall, the LMR Hessen pursues the goals of promoting musical development in Hessen and advocating supportive framework conditions.

The Landesmusikrat Hessen e. V. is the main shareholder of the Hessian Academy for Music and Cultural Education non-profit GmbH - Landesmusikakademie Hessen - based in Schloss Hallenburg in Schlitz , the central "House of Music in Hessen". It is currently represented by its President Ursula Jungherr , the two Vice-Presidents Dorothee Graefe-Hessler and Wendelin Göbel as well as six assessors who represent the various musical areas.

The State Music Council of Hesse has around 55 members who are state associations, organizations and institutions at state level. These reflect the musical life in Hesse both in the professional and in the lay area, from the working group of the music academies and conservatories to the plucked musicians who are organized in the State Association of Hesse. The State Music Council of Hesse maintains contact with the State Music Councils of the other federal states. The regional music councils conference takes place twice a year. Just as important is the connection to the German Music Council , which organizes the competitions at the federal level. The aim of the State Music Council of Hesse is to enable as many people as possible to actively participate in musical life and to be the contact person for musical topics in Hesse.
