Matthias Henke

Matthias Henke (* 1953 in Emmerich ) is a German musicologist , musician and composer .

Life

Matthias Henke studied musicology, German and art history at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . In 1975 he obtained his diploma as an instrumental teacher. In 1983 he was with a thesis on Joseph Küffner doctorate .

Henke has been teaching for many years, also as a visiting professor and substitute professor , at universities and music colleges in Germany and Austria. He taught in Münster, at the University of Kassel , in Weingarten and in Würzburg, among others .

Since 2008 Henke has held the chair for historical musicology at the University of Siegen . From 2013 to 2015 he was also visiting research professor at Danube University Krems . He is the editor of the Si! Musicology collection published by UniverSi Verlag Siegen.

Furthermore, Henke is active as a scientific adviser to the Kurt-Weill- Gesellschaft eV Dessau and the Ernst Krenek Institute Private Foundation.

His main research interests include (Austrian) modern music ; more recently also the music of the Viennese classical period ( Joseph Haydn , Ludwig van Beethoven ). Matthias Henke is also involved as an author, exhibition curator and music dramaturge , for example for Südwestrundfunk , Deutschlandfunk and Bayerischer Rundfunk or the Kurt Weill Fest Dessau .
