Michael Götte (born June 16, 1979 ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ).

biography

After compulsory schooling, Götte completed an administration apprenticeship and obtained the professional diploma . He completed training as a certified business economist HF and Executive Master of Business Administration FHO at the University of Applied Sciences St. Gallen from. Professionally, he has been Head cantonal politics at the Chamber of Commerce St.Gallen-Appenzell and as mayor of the municipality Tübach operates.

Götte has been a member of the St. Gallen Cantonal Council since 2002 and has headed the SVP parliamentary group there since 2009. In addition, he has been the mayor of Tübach since 2006. In the spring of 2012 he was narrowly defeated by the Social Democrat Fredy Fässler in the second round of the St. Gallen government council elections . In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2019 he ran for the National Council and reached the third substitute place on the SVP's main list. In March 2020 he ran a second time for the St. Gallen Government Council.

Götte lives in Tübach, is married and has three children. In the Swiss Army he has the rank of lieutenant colonel.
