Fredy Fassler

Alfred “Fredy” Fässler (born January 17, 1959 in St. Gallen ; resident in Appenzell ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ). He heads the Security and Justice Department of the Canton of St. Gallen and has been a member of the St. Gallen government since 2012

biography

Fässler studied law and graduated from the University of Zurich with a licentiate in 1986 . In 1987 he was admitted to the bar and worked as an independent lawyer / mediator until his election to the St. Gallen government council.

In 1992 Fässler was elected to the St. Gallen Cantonal Council, of which he was a member until 2012. From 1997 to 2008 he was President of the Socialist Group . For the 2012 government council elections , Fässler was nominated by his party as a candidate to succeed Kathrin Hilber . He was elected to the St. Gallen Government Council on April 29, 2012 in the second ballot. He heads the Security and Justice Department. In the 2017/2018 year of office he was the regional president . As a representative of the Conference of Cantonal Justice and Police Directors KKJPD , he has been a member of the Federal Commission against Racism since 2013 .

Fässler is married, has two children and lives in St. Gallen.
