Commissario Laurenti - Death on the Waiting List is a German crime film from 2007 by Hannu Salonen . The script, written by Renate Kampmann , is based on the novel by Veit Heinichen . It is his third case for the Trieste Vice Questore Commissario Proteo Laurenti, embodied by Henry Hübchen . Barbara Rudnik is cast as Laurenti's wife Laura, Florian Panzner and Catherine Flemming work for him, and Sergej Moya and Sophia Thomalla play Laurenti's children Marco and Livia. Stefan Kurt , Rolf Hoppe , Robert Gallinowski , Barbara Philipp , Horst Krause and Johannes Silberschneider as well as guest star Christopher Buchholz play leading roles .

action

This time Commissario Laurenti has to investigate a very complex case. The government convoy of Chancellor Angela Merkel , who is on a state visit to Italy , has to stop suddenly when the lead vehicle runs over a man. At first, the companions suspect a attack and secure the entourage as best they can. It quickly turns out that the run-over was already dead when he got under the vehicle and threw himself off the cliff onto the road. Laurenti has to clarify whether voluntarily or with outside intervention. First, he tries to find out the identity of the victim.

Before Laurenti has made any progress, however, a doctor who specialized in transplant surgery is found who has been brutally murdered. The perpetrator severed his penis so that he bled to death. The clinic where the victim worked does not appear to be overly shaken. According to Laurenti's research, high-ranking politicians and business giants can be treated in the luxury clinic. The deceased's qualifications do not really match the cosmetic operations that are supposedly carried out there in the clinic. Laurenti therefore suspects illegal organ transplants. Due to the influential relationships of the clinic director Adalgisa Morena, Laurenti cannot do research there as he would like and his boss refuses to search his house. To make matters worse, he is also accused of corruption because he recently bought a house that, given his income, could not have afforded. With this it is clear to Laurenti that he has obviously become very uncomfortable for someone and is on the right track.

Since he cannot take action against the clinic so easily, the inspector quickly concentrates on his new neighbor, who has been conspicuous to him for a long time. His wife had perished in Malta a few months ago and according to Laurenti's research, the doctor, who had been murdered in the meantime, was employed there at the time.

In the meantime, all preparations for a new organ transplant are being carried out in the clinic. The donor from Moldova has been in the clinic for a few days . He is the twin brother of the man who fell off the cliff and thereby failed as a donor. Without further ado, a replacement had to be found and the twin brother could be found and brought to Trieste. When he finds out what fate awaits him and not only should he “donate” a kidney , but that both organs are to be removed and let die, he goes on the offensive.

In the meantime, an article appears in the newspaper that links the clinic in a very massive way with illegal organ transplants. Allegedly innocent accident victims were unscrupulously "cannibalized" and their organs resold. The “import” of living donors is also on the clinic's agenda. Lorenzo Ramses Frei is named as the author of the article : Laurenti's new neighbor. Since these allegations coincide with Laurenti's investigation results, arrest warrants are issued and the police are arresting those responsible. They are at the funeral of their dead colleague when their donation victim, who has left the clinic and bought a truck, tries at full throttle to disrupt the funeral ceremony and rush into the crowd. Laurenti, who is also present, then shoots the driver and kills him fatally. Adalgisa Morena and her staff are arrested.

Due to the commitment of the journalist Lorenzo Ramses Frei, Laurenti checks his alibi at the time of the doctor's death and is convinced that the latter avenged his wife's death in this way. He cannot prove this to him yet, but Laurenti arranges his arrest.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv stated sobering: “The third case by 'Commissario Laurenti' is not convincing either. 'Death on the waiting list' is the typical waste of first-class actors (Hübchen, Hoppe, Stefan Kurt) on a third-rate book. This is reminiscent of the crime thriller of the 70s: a lot of skirmishes, little substance. The film by Hannu Salonen is a robber pistol which, in a fashionable fashion, develops three storylines in parallel, but never uses them to increase suspense, but rather lets them silt up in a trivial and then and then narrative. "

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm pointed their thumbs down and gave one of three possible points for humor and action. “Until Laurenti (Henry Hübchen) understands the connections between organ trade, high society and the“ rights of Italian taxpayers ”, nothing really happens…… except that Hübchen and Co. irritate us as Italians in this predictable story as much as Italians who speak broken German “, Wrote the film critics in explanation. In relation to the title, they drew the conclusion: “Prontaments removed from the waiting list!”.
