Commissario Laurenti - Give everyone their own death

Commissario Laurenti - Die Toten vom Karst is a German crime film from 2006 by Sigi Rothemund , who also wrote the script, which is based on the novel by Veit Heinichen . It is his first case for the Commissioner Proteo Laurenti, played by Henry Hübchen . Barbara Rudnik is cast as Laurenti's wife Laura, Florian Panzner and Catherine Flemming assist him, and Sergej Moya can be seen as Laurenti's son Marco. Leading roles are occupied by August Schmölzer , Carolina Vera , Arthur Brauss , Anne Bennent and Hermann Beyer . Hannelore Hoger and Götz George appear as guests .

action

The Trieste Commissario Proteo Laurenti has personal problems: his wife Laura has left him temporarily to clarify her feelings for him, and his son Marco is repeatedly arrested during demonstrations against “fascists”.

In this situation, Laurenti is confronted with a complicated murder case. Delicatessen man Manlio Gubian and his pregnant wife were killed in a nightly bomb attack on their house. A little later, in a mysterious night-and-fog operation by the old fisherman Ugo Marasi on stormy seas, one of his fishermen goes overboard and drowns. When Ugo Marasi is found brutally murdered shortly afterwards, there initially seems to be no connection with the Gubian case. However, after Marasi's widow Bruna publicly describes the old Antonio Gubian, Manlio's father, as the murderer of her husband, the puzzle pieces are gradually put together for Commissioner Laurenti:

The Croatian communist Antonio Gubian and the Marasi family have had an age-old hostility since Gubian was allegedly responsible for the murder of Marasi's sister decades ago. Despite this hostility, Marasi's daughter Nicoletta earlier had an affair with Manlio Gubian, who instigated her to smuggle cocaine from Croatia to Italy on her fathers' fishing boats. When Manlio turned to a younger woman, she married and was expecting their first child with her, Nicoletta took revenge by the bombing of his house. Ugo Marasi, on the other hand, was not killed by old Gubian, but by his employee Mario Scarpi, who wanted to avenge his drowned colleague.

background

Commissario Laurenti - Die Toten vom Karst was filmed on locations in Trieste from September 27, 2005 to December 3, 2005, at the same time as the following second episode, Give Everyone His Own Death . The film was produced by Trebitsch Entertainment on behalf of ARD Degeto for Das Erste . The first broadcast took place on June 4, 2006 during prime time on the Sunday slot otherwise reserved for the crime scene in the ARD Das Erste program. The scene of the crime: Blood writing was first broadcast on Monday the next day. In addition, the second episode, Give everyone their own death, was originally intended as the opening film of the crime film series because the individual characters are presented there. Ultimately, however, the decision was made to broadcast Die Toten vom Karst first, because Götz George and Hannelore Hoger featured prominently as guest stars.

criticism

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm pointed their thumbs to the side and gave one of three possible points for action and suspense. They said it was a “good ensemble, but the plot hardly captivates”. They summed up: "Laurenti's first case is only crime thriller".
