Christopher Buchholz

Christopher Buchholz (born February 4, 1962 in Los Angeles ) is a German actor and director . He is the son of the actress Myriam Bru and the actor Horst Buchholz , to whom he dedicated the documentary Horst Buchholz… mein Papa .

Life

In 1986, Christopher Buchholz played his first major role in the film The Assassination , in which he played the pope assassin Mehmet Ali Ağca .

In 1990 he appeared in several episodes of the series Das Erbe der Guldenburgs . He also starred in an episode of the series Ein Fall für Zwei in 1994 and in 1996 Murder is her hobby with.

In 2003 he starred in the film Luther alongside Peter Ustinov and in 2004 in the Stauffenberg production , where he played the protagonist's brother. In the same year Michelangelo Antonioni hired him for his film Eros .

Together with his mother and sister Beatrice, he realized his father's wish for a biography in autumn 2003 , for which he finally did not have enough time for himself. Together with “Horst Buchholz - His Life in Pictures”, they published an illustrated book with biographical notes that honors his life's work.

Two years later, Christopher published the film documentary Horst Buchholz… mein Papa about his famous father, which he directed and gave very personal insights into the life of Horst Buchholz. Buchholz has been director of the French Film Festival in Tübingen-Stuttgart since 2010 .

Buchholz is a member of the German Film Academy .
