Nordisk film
Nordisk Film A / S is one of the oldest surviving film companies in the world. It is based in the Copenhagen district of Valby ( ⊙ ) and employs around 1200 people in six countries.
history
It was founded in 1906 by Ole Olsen, first as Ole Olsen's Film Industry or Ole Olsen's Film Factory , and finally on November 6, 1906 as Nordisk Films Compani in Vimmelskaftet , Denmark . The company's first important director was Viggo Larsen , who filmed the successful film Lion Hunt in Elleore in 1907 . In the 1910s, director August Blom made numerous films for the company, including the Gerhart Hauptmann film adaptation of Atlantis (1913) with Olaf Fønss in the lead role. In 1914 Benjamin Christensen made his debut with the film Det hemmelighedsfulde X, which was praised mainly for its sophisticated use of light and shadow . In 1919 Carl Theodor Dreyer made his directorial debut here with the President .
Also Asta Nielsen began in 1910 at Nordisk, however, went a short time later to Germany. The company's busiest actor was Valdemar Psilander , who committed suicide in 1917.
The best-known director of the second half of the century was Erik Balling , who became known, among other things, for the films with the Olsen Gang (from 1968) or the television series Oh, these tenants (from 1970) and Matador (from 1978).
In 1984, under the leadership of Nordisk Film, the first private television broadcaster "Weekend-TV" was founded in Denmark. Nordisk Film has been part of the Egmont Group since 1992 . On the occasion of the 100th anniversary, the Nordic Film Days 2006 honored Nordisk Film with a retrospective.
On the occasion of its 90th anniversary , Nordisk Film has been awarding the Nordisk Film Prize (Nordisk Film Prisen) since 1996 to people for outstanding service to Danish film and Danish television. Since 2006, Nordisk, a prize named after the Danish director Erik Balling , has awarded the Erik Ballings travel grant . Furthermore, also from 2006, the Danish actor Ove Sprogøe (1919-2004) in honor annually a by Nordisk Film and actor Morten Grunwald , donated Ove-Sprogøe Prize (Ove Sprogøe pinches) awarded the a Danish Culture Award for exceptional achievement or Performances in theater, film or television stands. This price is linked to a bonus of 30,000 crowns .
