The Olsenbande Junior (in the original: Olsenbanden jr. Or Olsenbanden junior ) is a Norwegian film series that was produced by Nordisk Film from 2001 to 2010 . The films are based on an original Danish concept of the Olsen Gang and, as a prequel, represent a continuation of the Norwegian Olsen Gang in their childhood days. The first two films in this series are remakes of the first two Danish episodes, all later based on original scripts. Sverre Holm (former Norwegian Benny actor) and Arne Lindtner Næss carried out the translation, script adaptation and remake of the first episodes . Arne Lindtner Næss directed and wrote the scripts for the independent sequels, with the support of his son Peder Hamdahl Næss for two films . The soundtrack for all films comes from the Danish composer Bent Fabricius-Bjerre .

history

Originally, 14 Olsen Gang films were shot in Denmark from 1969 to 1999 as crime comedies by Henning Bahs and Erik Balling .

The Norwegian screenwriter and director Knut Bohwim estimated after a thorough examination beforehand that the first Danish Olsen film, " The Olsen Gang ", could not achieve the hoped-for success in Norway, partly because of the frequent use of national symbols such as B. the Dannebrog , and the strong connection to Copenhagen and Denmark. Knut Bohwim then decided to remake these films with Norwegian actors. He adapted the templates so well to the national circumstances that the remakes were received with great enthusiasm in Norway and thus became his greatest success. Role names, locations and national symbols were "Norwegianized" for this.

Another remake of the Danish Olsen gang was produced in the mid-1990s with child actors in Sweden under the title Jönssonligan (Jönsson gang) . The characters were based on the Swedish adult characters. The first two Swedish junior films were also dubbed in German. Later, Denmark and Norway followed the Swedish example and created their own "youth versions" of the Olsen Gang . Before that, the 31-part Danish television series Olsen-bandens første kup ("The Olsen Gang Junior and their first coup") appeared in 1999 in Denmark . Two years later, it was re-filmed in Norway as Olsenbandens første kupp and broadcast as a 24-part Christmas series ( Julekalender ) for children on TV 2 at Christmas 2001 , which started the independent Olsenbande Junior film series in Norway . The subsequent Danish sequel Olsenbande Junior was also named Olsenbanden jr. går under vann (The Olsen Gang goes under water) adapted.

As with the other Norwegian Senior Olsen Gang remakes , the Norwegianized names of the protagonists of the films were also used. While the main character's name remained Egon Olsen , the names of Benny Frandsen changed to Benny Fransen , from Kjeld Jensen to Kjell Jensen , Børge to Basse Jensen (here as Kjell's father) and from Yvonne to Valborg , Bøffen ( Stupid Pig ) to Biffen and Detective Inspector Jensen (or Mortensen ) in Hermansen .

action

The Norwegian Olsen Gang Junior film series tells the childhood story of Egon Olsen , Benny Fransen and Kjell Jensen ( prequel ). Egon Olsen first met Kjell and Benny when he was transferred to a new school. Egon came from the Lykkebo orphanage in Oslo , where he had spent most of his childhood. Kjell and Benny were often harassed or bullied on the way to and from school by Biffen , Johnny and Knut (Biffen gang). But when Egon came to her school class, that changed suddenly. He was able to defy Biffen several times or outsmart him. B. arm wrestling with the help of a whoopee pillow. Egon Olsen , Benny and Kjell founded together with Dynamite Harry the Olsen Gang . According to Egon's plan, this carries out minor ripoffs and several coups, mostly to "help justice to victory". Their fiercest adversary is the Biffen gang , who also allow themselves to be harnessed as the compliant henchman of Egon's adult adversaries. But mostly the Olsen Gang has the upper hand. The police are often on the heels of the Olsen gang or they often wrongly suspect them of having committed certain (in) deeds. While at the beginning the police officers Hermansen and Holm mostly support the enemies of the Olsen gang, a cooperation develops later in which the real culprits are convicted or the police are helped on the jumps. Kjell tries again and again to win Valborg's love or to prove his love to her, which he finally succeeds after several attempts. Biffen also vies for Valborg's love and acts against Kjell . Valborg and Kjell experience the ups and downs of their relationship. Benny Fransen tries to win the heart of Ingrid , Valborg's friend. Recurring parts of the film plot are Egon s (often unjustified) arrest for minor offenses and, after his release, his greeting from Benny and Kjell , waving flags . As in other Olsenbanden movies, the stop target mostly a Franz Hunter Berlin - Safe , which can be opened only by an expert such as Egon Olsen with the correct combination of digits. In the end , despite some problems, the Olsen Gang can implement their plans or coups and achieve their goals and convict the real perpetrators. Probably for reasons of the protection of minors, no beer is drunk at the plan meetings. Instead, the Olsen Gang Junior usually drinks good lemonade from bottles together on such occasions. Of course, the young dynamite Harry doesn't have a drinking problem here either, but an alternative vice: the preference for liquorice and other sweets.

Remarks

One difference between the senior and junior Olsen Gang films lies in the respective goals of the gangs. The senior Olsen gang wants to achieve mostly personal prosperity or wealth through their coups and rip-offs. B. to escape their petty-bourgeois conditions; the junior Olsen gang, on the other hand, wants to help justice win. The senior Egon usually has to go to jail after the opening credits and at the end of the film; After the opening credits, the junior Egon is only given school or house arrest, but is always at large at the end. While with the Senior Olsens everything goes wrong in the end, the Junior Olsens can always carry out their plans. In return, they are often the object of police actions or other measures at the beginning, and then work together with the executive to bring down the “real bad guys”.

The film was made as a continuation of the successful Olsen Gang film series, except that in this film the story of the Olsen Gang in their childhood days is told ( prequel ). The senior Olsen gang films and the aftermath of this film series, however, have a rather loose relationship to one another. Egon, Benny and Kjell are about the same age here. In the Norwegian senior Olsen gang films, Egon is much older than Benny . The plot of the first Norwegian “Senior” Olsen Gang film begins around 1969, when the protagonists are all in “middle age”. The first Norwegian junior film, on the other hand, begins with its plot around 1958 and the last film to date ends around 1961, creating a gap in continuity. The gang's childhood must therefore have happened much earlier than 1958, according to the “official” Norwegian Olsen gang chronology, Kjell and Valborg got married in the mid-1950s. According to the Norwegian senior Olsen gang chronology, Egon was born on March 13, 1923 in the village of Kløfta , in the Norwegian municipality of Ullensaker in Fylke Akershus , and the Norwegian senior Egon Olsen ( Arve Opsahl ) was also born around 1921. Even if one assumed that the gang actually spent their childhood together, it must have been in the years just before the Second World War . Among other things, Junior Egon and the rest of the gang members must have been born around 20 to 25 years later.

In the credits of all Norwegian Olsen Gang Junior movies is always in the credit note on it: a special thanks to Henning Bah and Erik Balling for the creation of the Olsen Gang - universe .

Movies

The television series Olsen-Bandens første kup , which first appeared in Denmark, and the Danish film Olsenbande Junior were remade in different ways in Norway.
