action

Egon Olsen is released from the Oslo Botsfengsel (Oslo State Prison) and is picked up by Benny and Kjell. At home in Kjell's apartment, he announces his new plan to his buddies. In prison he bought a secret treasure map from a fellow inmate. According to Egon, it is a suitcase with dollar bills and a box full of gold bars that the German occupiers had to leave behind when they fled Norway and that are hidden in an old bunker from the Second World War . The Olsen Gang now makes their way with bag and baggage to the German bunker, which is located in the Norwegian part of Sørlandet . Egon claims that he is the only person who knows where the treasure is hidden in the bunker.

Almost at the same time, Carina, who also knows about the treasure and whose father built the bunker on behalf of the German occupying forces, meets with Ricco, a smuggler who is wanted by Interpol. Together they drive their Toyota Celica ST 2000 from the airport to a hotel to discuss how to proceed. The smuggler first promises to help her when she shows him where the treasure is and also shares it with him.

Because their vehicle is too small, the Olsen gang steals a butcher's red Ford Transit to travel to Sørlandet. After several adventures and errands, your vehicle breaks down shortly before your destination due to an engine failure. The cause seems to be a defective cylinder head gasket . Finally, on the horizon, a tow truck from a car scrap dealer appears, which tows them away and takes them to Mats Matsen's junkyard. By chance Egon finds a couple of old bunker doors there, which show the Olsen Gang the right way to the General Treasury. The bunker you are looking for is here in Kløvstad, very close to the scrap dealer on the beach. Unfortunately, the access to the bunker is completely under water and is also in the middle of a restricted military area . For this they need further aids and diving equipment. Since their vehicle can no longer be repaired, they sell it to the scrap dealer, who has his assistants, Lillegutt, put it in the scrap press. Since they are basically still completely broke, they try to steal the necessary start-up capital from Matsen's Franz Jäger vault. Unfortunately, the coup goes wrong, but the scrap dealer suggests a deal. He helps them with the necessary start-up capital and technical equipment such as B. a diving suit and lends them his Toyota Crown , but wants half of the loot.

After Egon got inside the bunker using Matsen's antiquarian diving equipment, he discovered that the access to the treasure was closed with a meter-thick concrete wall. After the Olsen gang found a second bunker exit, they try to blast a hole through the wall with dynamite . The villain Ricco also shows up, equipped with modern diving equipment and wants to shoot the Olsen gang with his harpoon. At the same time he wants to get revenge for the failed kidnapping of Basse, the son of the gang member Kjell. The clever boy managed to pull the carpet from under Ricco's feet, causing him to fall and Basse to escape. Ricco is eliminated this time through Benny's initiative.

The Olsen Gang is now attempting to use an old two-stroke petrol-powered motor hammer to gain access through the bunker wall. The vibrations and oscillations of the hammer trigger an almost 30 year old and secret defense mechanism of the Germans in the bunker. A huge yellow grenade, which runs along a rail in the ceiling, is designed in such a way that it moves along the rail through the entire bunker system in order to blow up the bunker wall and possibly kill any intruders. Benny and Egon, who are enthusiastically chiseling the concrete wall with the hammer, do not notice it, although the grenade is moving over their heads. Kjell tries in vain to warn her, but without luck. After the motor hammer stops due to a lack of petrol, they too can now hear the noises of the grenade along the track. When the grenade moves towards them again, they can jump into the water at the last second to take cover. The grenade knocks a large hole through the closed bunker wall and thus exposes the treasure room. The explosion also destroys the Norwegian army facilities , which are located just above the bunker. The distraught lieutenant drives his off-road vehicle straight into the water while fleeing from fright. In the now uncovered general staff room of the bunker you can see a large portrait of Hitler and an abandoned table with silver forks and knives covered with cobwebs, along with some Nazi devotional objects and officer's hats. The long sought Franz Jäger Berlin safe with the gold bars and money is also in the room. After Egon has opened the safe with the correct combination of digits, they take the treasure with them and leave the bunker through a small ventilation opening. Ricco sees her coming out of the exit and fires his Browning pistol at her. However, the Olsen Gang managed to escape on the beach in a motorboat prepared for their escape.

Ricco steals another boat and goes in pursuit. However, he stops with an engine failure before he is able to reach the bank. The Olsen Gang managed to escape first to the mainland with their bulging suitcases of money and gold bars . Her parked getaway car, the scrap dealer's Toyota Crown delivery truck, is already waiting for her there . But Kjell's wife Valborg and her Basse are still missing, even though they should wait in the car. Shortly afterwards they suddenly hear car tires screeching. Ricco is already back on track with his Toyota Celica. There is now a wild chase through the village, but Ricco ends up stuck in a mud puddle with his car. The Olsen gang is now happily heading for the airport to finally get to Mallorca . You have 17 minutes to go and are only 13 kilometers from the airport when your car suddenly stops due to a lack of petrol. After a short while, the tow truck suddenly appears with the assistant of the scrap dealer. He takes her on the hook of the tow truck and, to the horror of the Olsen gang, doesn't bring her to the airport as expected, but to the junkyard. Lillegutt probably tampered with the car so that the Olsen Gang would be forced to share the treasure with Mats Matsen. For practical reasons, Matsen now suggests that they take the bills and he only get the gold. After the division, the Olsen Gang split up and travel to the next town to exchange dollar bills for Norwegian kroner at a bank .

In the meantime Ricco has been able to free himself from the mud hole with his car and is now threatening Carina and Matsen with his pistol at the junkyard. The gangster now wants all the gold for himself and lets Matsen put the gold bars in his car. But he didn't notice that he had parked his car right under the heavy weight block of the scrap press, which crushed his car with the gold. Just as he is about an inch away from the press, the assistant of the scrap dealer Matsen operates the scrap press. Unfortunately, Ricco's pistol becomes tangled under the weight block, rendering it unusable and he has to give up. As compensation, he gets a few crowns so that he can buy a train ticket for his return journey.

In the meantime, the Olsen gang is celebrating their success with coffee and cake in a restaurant, without Egon, who in the meantime wants to exchange the money at a bank. Kjell's son, Basse, accidentally tips a glass of Coca-Cola over a dollar bill from the treasure. Valborg tries to dry the bill with a napkin, but the liquid has dissolved the paint on the banknote - it is wrong. In the background you can hear the sirens of the police car that is on its way to the bank to arrest Egon after his failed exchange of money. The rest of the Olsen gang now travel back to Oslo by train without Egon and the wealth they had hoped for . They wave to Egon again when the police car and the train cross on the way home.

Reviews

“Only for those who like something like that ... - Anyone who thinks the Olsen Gang is funny can laugh at many beautiful scenes and - somewhat less beautiful dialogues. Carsten Bryhring, Arve Opsahl and Sverre Holm play well together. The latter in particular made a lot more of his part than before. Aud Schønemann is also a good player, as is Per Theodor Haugen (the lieutenant). But even with the greatest benevolence, it cannot be overlooked that the film is partly amateurish. "

Trivia

  • In this remake of the originally Danish film The Olsen Gang in Jutland , a scene was adopted: where the residents of the junkyard close their windows when the Olsen gang waves them in a friendly manner and greets them. In addition, a scene in the bunker after the explosion, where the Olsen gang entered the general room, was partially taken over.
  • As with the Danish original Die Olsenbande in Jutland , the scenes inside the bunkers were not shot in the original (Norwegian) locations, where there are also similar former German bunkers, as in Jutland, but in the Copenhagen studio of Nordisk Film in Valby . On the one hand for the same reason, because the radio technology did not work reliably because of the thick reinforced concrete walls and on the other hand the same studio film sets were used for practical and cost reasons. As a result, the Norwegian Olsen Gang can be seen in the same premises of the bunker as their Danish colleagues.
  • The fictional place Kløvstad occurring in the film plot is said to be in the Norwegian part of Sørlandet (German "Südland"), where the treasure bunker of the Norwegian Olsen Gang is also located. In reality, the real little is south-Norwegian port city Stavern that the municipality Larvik in Fylke (Province) Vestfold heard where the corresponding message of the movie were filmed.
  • On the wall in the officer's cabin of Lieutenant an image of the conservative Norwegian depends Høyre - politician Rolf Stranger in uniform, probably as a tribute to his many years of service to the Norwegian film industry.
  • Ulf Kittelsen from Larvik appeared here as the lieutenant's stunt double (played by Per Theodor Haugen ) in the scene where he drove his military off-road vehicle into the water after the detonation.
  • In shooting the film in Stavern the Olsen Gang actor Egon, Kjell and Benny were almost of the weight of the car crusher at the junkyard were crushed. In the corresponding scene in the film, where the adversary of the Olsen gang, Ricco, operates the scrap press to remove it, the dog of a local farmer who helped out with the filming yapped every time. This always happened at the moment when the signal to operate the weight of the scrap press came and the Olsen gang had to leave their field of fire and when the director Knut Bohwim “went to the camera”. Not only did this mean that several attempts had to be made to shoot this scene, but this disruption would soon have led to a disaster. Finally, Bohwim asked: "If the dog will finally be quiet because he wants to finish the recording before the evening". When Bohwim called again: "Camera is running", the dog barked again. The farmer went up to the dog and yelled at him. Then he came back and operated the scrap press, under which the Olsen gang stood, who got away with a shock. The farmer then went into his house, came out with a rifle and shot his dog. After the dog was dead, he said: “Now he is calm.” Benny actor Sverre Holm was disturbed by this after hearing that the farmer was responsible for this action. Egon Olsen actor Arve Opsahl was also irritated and said: "I have a wife and children. I can't go on like this here". Kjell actor Carsten Byhring finally reassured: "Take it easy. You only have to take one step forward". The scene could then be ended without further incident.
