action

May 17th is the day of the traditional Russian celebration with the associated parades in Oslo , which the Olsen Gang wants to take advantage of to carry out a coup. Everyone is distracted by the great crowd and the hustle and bustle on the streets and nobody is in the Storting , the parliament building where the break is to be carried out, due to these celebrations. Since the stop target this time no Franz Hunter - Safe is and Egon has not memorized the correct combination of digits, the boss needs this time a little longer to crack this safe. Benny and Kjell get impatient and disturb Egon in his work, so that he finally sends them away. Before Egon can open the safe, however, he is surprised by the Reichstag representative. Olsen has to go back to the Oslo State Prison due to the failed break-in .

When Egon Olsen is released again and is picked up by Benny and Kjell, he finds out that they have a new boss named Data-Harry (Data-Harry). Data-Harry is none other than Benny's brother, the gang member Dynamite-Harry. Harry once slept drunk in a container and ended up in the United States. There he attended relevant courses in the field of computer science and has since become the ultimate specialist in crime using the latest computer technology. He got into a computer company and so returned to Norway in order to earn his money here too through questionable actions. With his "computer company" he cracks electronic security systems and safes and manipulates various security devices. Benny and Kjell also think Data-Harry's new methods are much more efficient and Egon's usual approach is antiquated. Egon must now involuntarily and reluctantly submit to Data-Harry and take part in his project with Kjell and Benny as subordinate "employees". But in order to get rid of data Harry and to be able to implement his own plan with Benny and Kjell, he manipulates Harry's computer during a joint break with a nail . After data Harry's coup has failed, Benny and Kjell reunite with Egon and are ready for his new plan.

According to this, they want to steal ten million US dollars from a windy trader, which comes from illegal business. The internationally sought-after fraudster Hallandsen receives the large sum of money for 30 tons of overlaid butter that he wants to export to Russia . But the business is illegal. The butter is subsidized in Norway and the so-called butter mountain should actually be destroyed. With the help of the Storting representative and diplomat Smith-Nilsen, the fraudulent businessman Hallandsen wants to prevent the planned destruction and bring the butter out of the country for them profitably. Detective Inspector Hermansen also gets wind of the planned crooked actions Hallandsen and Smith-Nilsen, but refuses to do anything about it, because these people are too powerful for him. He therefore delegates the case to criminal assistant Holm. He is happy to finally be able to take on responsibility. The Olsen Gang manages to outsmart Hallandsen with a few crook tricks and steal the money. The Storting parliamentarian gets to know who is behind it. He incites Egon's arch-enemies, Master Hansen and Biffen, the stupid pig, on the Olsen gang. The stupid pig takes the money from the Olsen gang and kidnaps Egon together with master Hansen in order to take him off. Master Hansen then hands the red suitcase back to his clients. Meanwhile, Benny and Kjell try to free Egon. Benny is caught by Biffen trying to rescue him. Finally, Kjell manages to turn him off and free Egon and Benny. The money is now safely stored in the Norwegian branch of the World Bank in Oslo. Actually it is almost hopeless to want to get it back from there. The World Bank is secured by electronic security systems, surveillance cameras and heavily armed guards. Egon needs data Harry's help, only he can outsmart the modern security systems with his computer technology. For half the booty, he reluctantly agrees to work with the Olsen gang. The Olsen gang manages to sneak into the World Bank and, with electronic assistance from Data Harry, escape with the prey. Master Hansen and the stupid pig learn about the successful raid of the Olsen gang. They kidnap Egon and Data-Harry. Valborg, who is currently completing her driving school, takes on the chase with her driving instructor, Benny and Kjell. A wild chase ensues across Oslo, which eventually ends in an industrial area. Egon escapes Master Hansen and the stupid pig. The Olsen gang can flee with the money before the police arrive. Data-Harry gives up in exasperation and wants to go back to the USA as soon as possible without asking for a share.

Benny and Kjell hide the money in a laundry washing machine and disappear when they see the police coming. The police are not actually looking for her, but are only targeting Benny's wrongly parked vehicle. Valborg ignorantly starts the washing machine, destroying all the money and ending up with nothing. Master Hansen and the stupid pig are taken away by the police in the industrial area and take full responsibility for the World Bank robbery as well as for other former coups of the Olsen gang. Egon, who lost his bowler hat in the chase, wants to pick it up from the police after a television search report. However, he does not allow others to adorn himself with his successes and confesses to the police that he is responsible for everything. Egon has to be behind bars once again. Criminal assistant Holm is promoted, while Hermansen is demoted for his supposed failure and transferred to the stables of the mounted police. Since Hallandsen's and Smith-Nilsen's criminal business has also collapsed, the butter, which has now become unusable, trickles out of the Norwegian State Railways ice rink car in which it is stored.

The failure of Norwegian politics becomes known and the price of butter is rising again.

criticism

“It's crazy fun - if you think there must be limits to nonsense, you should stay far away from the Olsen gang. This also applies to those who only swear by quiet humor. But if you - like the undersigned - have a weakness for these types and believe that it is a pleasure to laugh every now and then without any obligation, this ninth encounter with the gang will undoubtedly be pleasant. "

- Ulf Rennberg in "Arbeiderbladet" :

"A bit of Chaplin - it takes a little while for the fun to start, and it takes a little bit of explanation and preparation and so on, but even before the opening credits, the gang gets access to the storting, to Kleppe-Packen - with participation von Kleppe und Packen - to steal. But that's just the overture ... The Vertashaus in Høvik serves as the location for the coup on the Norwegian branch of the World Bank. Egon Olsen sticks to the gears in the steel doors in a way that could be interpreted benevolently as an homage to Charlie Chaplin's “Modern Times”. As usual, the whole thing is warmly covered and nice to follow. "

- TE (Thor Ellingsen) in Dagbladet :
