Bjørn Watt-Boolsen (born June 20, 1923 in Rudkøbing , † December 28, 1998 in Frederiksberg ) was a Danish actor, theater director and director.
Life
Watt-Boolsen received his acting training from 1942 to 1944 at the drama school of the Royal Theater (Det Kongelige Teaters elevskole) in Copenhagen . In 1943 he made his stage debut in En Kvinde er overflødig by Knud Sønderby . In the 1950s he became one of the most important theater personalities in Denmark; from 1959 to 1971 he was director of the Folketeatret in Copenhagen . He then remained a freelance actor, director and speaker until his death.
Since his training, Watt-Boolsen played in around 50 film and television productions. He achieved great fame in Denmark especially as Colonel Hachel in the television series Matador . In the films of the Olsen Gang he was regularly seen from 1974 as a powerful, unscrupulous opponent of the gang around their gang leader Egon Olsen . Occasionally he also took part in foreign productions, for example in 1971 in the Swedish-American psychological thriller The Unhealthy Visitor or in 1991 in the ZDF television film Linda .
He played his last film role in 1998 in The (really) very last trick of the Olsen Gang . He was unable to attend the premiere of the film on December 18, 1998 - ten days before his death - for health reasons.
