Poppy Blue was a North German pop-rock - band from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern . It was formed in 2004 from members of the Xsense group. Since then, the group has consisted of singer Jana Halbritter and the two instrumentalists and producers Sebastian Nicklas (guitar) and Robert Reich (bass). German-language lyrics and catchy melodies are the band's trademarks.
history
In 2004 Mohnblau won East Germany's largest newcomer competition, the F6 Music Award . The band prevailed against around 800 applicants, gained nationwide attention and signed a record deal with the major label BMG . The band then toured through Germany, among others together with Udo Lindenberg , Sons Mannheims , Wir sind Helden , Wolfsheim , 2raumwohnung , H-Blockx and Phillip Boa . A musical project developed from Udo Lindenberg's enthusiasm for the band. Together with Mohnblau, he wrote the LIed Das Merkel ich mir , which was released as a single for the 2005 federal election.
Mohnblau has performed numerous concerts in the Balkans, Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina, among others. The band performed at Christopher Street Day in Cologne as well as at the Popkomm music fair .
In the following years two studio albums were created - Harvest Time and Wunder . Wunder was produced in the Lakeside studios under the direction of Dirk Burke and published on the Gillmeister Enterprises label. With the single Wunder , the first release from the album of the same name, Mohnblau was named Newcomer of the Month by Njoy Radio in May 2009 . With the song Nachtgeisterspiele , the band released another single in March 2010, which was presented at numerous live concerts in the republic in the summer of the same year and heralds the band's new sound. Funky, groovy, elated with a hint of melancholy, this is described.
In the meantime, the band continued to work and produced two new songs on their own in July 2010. Tik Tak and Garden of Eden were released as an EP on September 15, 2010. In addition to two new songs, the EP called Tik Tak contains selected songs from the previous album Wunder and, on a deluxe version, the video for the song Tik Tak .
