Lis Løwert

Lis Løwert (born December 7, 1919 in Copenhagen , † November 26, 2009 ) was a Danish actress.

Career

At the age of nine, Løwert performed as an elf girl on the open-air stage in Dyrehaven . Later she was temporarily on stage as a dancer in the Pantomimeteatret in Tivoli . From 1937 to 1940 she played at the Ny Teater . From 1942 to 1944 she attended the acting school of the Royal Theater ; then she was engaged at the Folketeatret from 1944 to 1971 . She was also a director of this theater for twelve years, most of the time under the aegis of her husband Bjørn Watt-Boolsen .

After she had made minor appearances in films since the late 1930s, some major film roles followed in the second half of the 1940s. In 1950 she took part in the British war film The Wooden Horse . Since the 1950s she appeared almost exclusively in Erik Balling's films . She was best known for the television series Oh, these tenants as Mrs. Clausen and Matador as Violet Winter .

Private

Lis Løwert's older sister was the actress and theater director Karen Marie Løwert . She was married to the actor Palle Reenberg in her first marriage from 1939 to 1942 ; from this marriage a son was born. In 1947 she married the actor Bjørn Watt-Boolsen, who was her fellow student at the drama school. The marriage lasted more than 50 years until her husband's death in December 1998.
