Rudkøbing is the main town in the island municipality of Langeland ( Denmark ).

history

The place with 4565 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) is the administrative seat of the Langeland municipality in the Syddanmark region . Before the Danish administrative reform on January 1, 2007 , it was the administrative seat of Rudkøbing Municipality in what was then Fyns Amt . Rudkøbing is a port town with a fishing port , a trading port and a marina, as well as a ferry terminal from which ferries run to the neighboring island of Strynø . The ferry connection to Marstal on the island of Ærø was discontinued on January 21, 2013.

Culture

The city's former train station houses an exhibition on the history of Langelandsbane and the city's archive. The history of the island is presented in the Langelands Museum .
