Carsten Byhring (born December 18, 1918 in Kristiania , † April 6, 1990 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian actor . He is the older brother of the Norwegian actor Svein Byhring .

Life

Byhring was the son of the engineer Bjarne Byhring (1888-1976) and Haldis Hansen (1892-1974). He made his debut at Søilen Teater in Oslo in 1941 . He then worked in various leading roles as a theater actor at the Chat Noir Theater, Centralteatret , Det Norske Teatret ( "The Norwegian Theater" ), Den Norske Opera & Ballet ( Norwegian Opera & Ballet ) and the Oslo Nye Teater ( Oslo New Theater ). Since the 1950s he has been involved in several successful Norwegian film and television productions as a film actor.

His most famous role was that of Kjell Jensen (Danish original version of the Olsen Gang : Kjeld Jensen ) in thirteen films by the Norwegian Olsen Gang . Byhring also had a guest appearance in the Danish Olsen Gang as the drunken tourist Øjvind in the film The (probably) last prank of the Olsen Gang , along with the other Norwegian Olsen Gang actors Arve Opsahl and Sverre Holm .

In one of his last public appearances in the spring of 1990, he explained in an interview with the Norwegian television newspaper Se og Hør that he had been smoking several cigarettes a day since he was fourteen and that as a result he was suffering from lung cancer. Shortly afterwards, he died on April 6, 1990 at the age of 72 as a result of his illness.

For the first time Byhring was married to actress Ingerid Vardund from 1950 to 1956 and for the second time since 1963 with Bjørg Byhring , née Petersen (1931-1988).
