Sverre Olav Holm (as Sverre Olav Gundersen ) (born July 24, 1931 in Drammen , Norway , † March 17, 2005 in Stavern , Norway) was a Norwegian actor and screenwriter .

Life

In his youth, Holm originally wanted to be a painter or artist. However, he began to develop an interest in the theater and took acting lessons at Walt Rosenberg's private theater in Denmark. Holm first made his debut as a theater actor at the Rogaland Theater in 1953 in the role of Julius in the play Ungen by Oskar Braaten . He later played at various other Norwegian theaters, such as Trøndelag Teater , Centralteatret , Edderkoppen teater , Oslo Nye Teater , and Det Norske Teatret, and he also appeared in the Fjernsynsteatret (television theater ) of the NRK . He also had guest appearances in Denmark, Sweden and Finland.

Holm made his acting debut in Norwegian film in 1958 and has appeared in almost 50 film and television productions during his career. His best known role was that of Benny Fransen in 14 films in the Norwegian version of the Olsen Gang . In two of these remakes , the originally Danish Olsen Gang films, he was also involved with Knut Bohwim in the Norwegian adaptation, translation and the manuscript. For the Norwegian remake of the first Olsen Gang Junior film, he wrote the script together with Arne Lindtner Næss . Holm also had a guest appearance in the Danish Olsen Gang as the drunken tourist Olav in the film The (presumably) last prank of the Olsen gang , together with the other Olsen gang actors Arve Opsahl and Carsten Byhring .

In his home country he was last seen from 1990 to 1998 in the lead role of O. Tidemann in the television series Sesam Stasjon (Norwegian version of Sesame Street ). Furthermore, he was also active as an author and wrote several short stories and books as well as a columnist, including for the Aftenposten . Sverre Holm devoted a large part of his free time to painting in the last years of his life. He presented his pictures in several solo exhibitions or exhibited them in group exhibitions. Since 1990 Holm has lived largely in Spain and from 1997 he had his main residence in his house in Altea on the Costa Blanca , where he had his own gallery with his pictures.

Sverre Holm was the son of Haakon Wilhelm Gundersen (1905–1979) and Olga Marie Mathiesen (1906–2000). In his first marriage he was married to Marit Gulbrandsen and after the divorce in 1963 he married the actress Sissel Juul (1939-1987). In his third marriage in 1990, the nurse married Kari Anne Harnes. In 1965 he changed his family name to Holm.

Holm died of cancer on March 17, 2005 in a nursing home near Stavern ( Larvik municipality ).
