Hauke ​​Lange-Fuchs (born May 30, 1934 in Kiel ; † November 27, 2019 ) was a German lawyer and author .

Life

Lange-Fuchs studied law . From 1956 he then took political science , Swedish and various film seminars at the University of Kiel in addition to his major . This brought him into contact with various Scandinavian filmmakers and wrote film reviews for the Kieler Nachrichten . After completing his doctorate in law, Lange-Fuchs worked as a lawyer. Furthermore, he was increasingly involved in the Nordic Film Days in Lübeck in his free time. As the moderator of the festival, he presented and interviewed the invited filmmakers fluently in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and English. He was considered to be an important sponsor of Nordic and, in particular, Norwegian film (and Scandinavian children's and youth films), not least because of the annual Nordic Film Days in Lübeck . Lange-Fuchs was involved in the artistic direction of the festival and the selection of films for the festival program and was also considered an important member of the management team. Lange-Fuchs had published numerous books and writings on Scandinavian film.

Honors

For “the promotion of cultural relations between Norway and Germany ” he was awarded the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit at the 59th International Film Festival in Berlin in February 2009 and he was made a first class knight.
