The Olsen Gang in the Clamp is the second film with the Olsen Gang .

In the film, the American gangsters stay in the then Hotel Europa - today Danhostel Copenhagen City

The film begins with the Olsen gang trying unsuccessfully to rob a savings bank, with gang leader Egon being arrested again. To the horror of his gang members, he renounces the crime while in prison and wants to earn money with honest work after his release. The attractive social welfare worker Bodil Hansen is responsible for this. She gives Egon a job on the assembly line of a toy factory. After initial hesitation, Egon was able to convince Kjeld and finally Benny of the benefits of honest work, so that all three of them eventually work in the factory.

When one day, however, Bodil Hansen unexpectedly shows up at the factory, Egon is so overwhelmed by her appearance that he completely messes up the assembly line process and then Benny and Kjeld and all the other employees join this picnic and the three are dismissed without notice. Bodil Hansen is initially disappointed, but can finally find work for the three of them as cleaning staff in the vault of the National Bank. In the bank they witness a spectacular break-in in which specially secured loot is stolen from a safe (as it turns out later, these are the Danish crown jewels).

Since the convicted Olsen gang (apart from which there are no other witnesses) is understandably believed to be the perpetrators, Egon tries to hunt the prey off the real robbers - a gang of American super gangsters - on his own, whereby the gang finally finds its way back to its old form. After all, even the big man behind, Serafimo Motzarella from Chicago, has to travel to Denmark. The film ends with Egon being arrested again while Bodil Hansen accompanies Motzarella to the USA.

The second film in the Olsen Gang series is an intermediate link between the first part, which had very little to do with the flair of the later films, and the third, from which the plot concept of the follow-up films is largely present. Kjeld and Yvonne are now at home in Valby , a small-town district of Copenhagen, which contributed a lot to the atmosphere of the following Olsen gang films. The gang members no longer visit brothels, even if they still do not meet in Kjeld's apartment, but in Hansen's pub. Yvonne is still just one of many supporting characters, the female lead in the film is clearly Bodil Hansen.

German synchronizations

Like all Olsen Gang films, the film was dubbed in the GDR by DEFA . Klaus Mertens had his only appearance as Egon voice, Benny and Kjeld were again dubbed by Peter Dommisch and Erhard Köster . The later Egon voice actor Karl Heinz Oppel spoke again Mortensen; Bodil Hansen was voiced by Gudrun Jochmann , Motzarella by Walter Niklaus .

In West Germany, the first and second films in 1970 for the 86-minute film Die Panzerknackerbande were cut together, dubbed and shown in cinemas. Wolf Rahtjen spoke for Egon, Horst Sachtleben for Benny, Alexander Welbat for Karlchen (Kjeld), Eckart Dux for Mortensen, Kathrin Ackermann for Monika (Bodil) Hansen and Arnold Marquis for Motzarella.

Remarks

  • When Kjeld and Benny pick up Egon from prison at the beginning of the film, you see Kjeld again with a stroller. From then on - unlike in the first film - he only ever had one child, namely Børge.
  • In 1970, Olsenbanden og Dynamitt-Harry was a Norwegian remake.
