Jes Holtsø (born December 30, 1956 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish actor and blues singer . He became known for his role as Børge in the Olsen Gang films.

Life

Holtsø was discovered in 1968 at a school in Copenhagen by the head of cast of Nordisk Film and was then cast by director Erik Balling as an actor for the first Olsen Gang film. From then on, he played the role of Børge in all of the series' films until 1976, and from 1970 he was seen as William Olsen in the television series Oh, these tenants, which Balling played a major role in . He owes his popularity in Denmark to both roles. He also starred in the 1969 film Stine og drengene .

In addition to his work as an actor, he was involved in two films as a prop assistant: 1976 in Die Olsenbande sees red and 1977 in Affæren i Mølleby .

In 1977 he left Nordisk Film because of his allegedly too low salary and from then on hid from the public. His role therefore had to be written out of the script for Die Olsenbande strikes again , and apart from two shorter appearances - 1979 in Die Olsenbande never and again in 1998 in The (really) very last prank of the Olsenbande - he has not been an actor since then in front of a camera, with the exception of the short film Liden tid from 2003, where he appeared again as Børge.

Holtsø was addicted to alcohol and drugs for a long time, after more than ten years he managed to quit in the early 1990s. He later worked in an addiction counseling center. He also plays the keyboard and harmonica in his Jes Holtsø band . He is married and has two children.

In 2009 he made a comeback on the DR TV show Talent 09 , the Danish adaptation of Britain's Got Talent or Das Supertalent . As a blues singer, he reached the final, which took place on October 23, but he could not place there in the top three. On April 26, 2010 he released his first blues album in Denmark on their own label Crawfish Music with the Morten Wittrock Band , who had already accompanied him during the TV show . After the release of the second album Big Easy on May 14th 2012 he was honored at the Copenhagen Blues Festival in September of the same year with the award Årets Danske Blues Navn ("Danish Blues Name of the Year"). On May 11, 2013 Holtsø and the Morten Wittrock Band gave their first concert in Germany at the Nordic Sound Festival in Greifswald . On April 13, 2015, the third album Glemte nætter was released , on which Holtsø sings in Danish for the first time.
