Alexander Yegorovich Varlamov
Alexander Varlamov Jegorowitsch ( Russian Александр Егорович Варламов * November 15 . Jul / 27. November 1801 greg. In Moscow , † October 15 jul. / 27. October 1848 greg. In Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian composer.
The pupil of Dmitri Bortnjanski was choir regent of the Russian legation church in The Hague from 1819 to 1823 , afterwards music teacher in Moscow . From 1829 to 1831 he worked as a singing teacher for the court singing society in St. Petersburg. Until 1845 he was again a music teacher in Moscow, then in St. Petersburg.
He composed two ballets , choral works, drama music and numerous songs , including the popular Krasny Sarafan (The Red Sarafan). He also published a widely used textbook for singing.
