The Olsen gang on the high seas ( Danish Olsen-banden på dybt vand , literally: The Olsen gang in deep waters ) is a computer-animated film from Denmark and the sequel to the animated film The Olsen gang in fine company ( Danish Olsen-banden på de bonede gulve ), around the Olsen Gang . Originally, like its predecessor, the film was to be produced in 3D format, but this was not done for various reasons.

Windy businessman Bang Johansen wants to sell a Danish invention for an oil optimization machine, which is still secret and obviously of great importance, to whoever pays the most for it. The Olsen Gang, who got wind of the trade, want to prevent this at all costs. Egon Olsen already has a plan for this, for which the gang needs a seagull, a diving suit, a rubber dinghy and a seaplane.
Film premiere and releases
The first preview and world premiere of the film took place on September 15, 2013 in Copenhagen's Palads Teatret and the official gala premiere on October 5, 2013. On October 10, 2013, the official cinema release in Denmark. The Danish original dubbed version was released on DVD and Blu-Ray on April 20, 2014. The German version was released on September 26, 2014 by Capelight Pictures on DVD and Blu-Ray. The film had its German television premiere on MDR television on February 28, 2016 .

In June 2011 it was announced that, as a sequel to Die Olsenbande in feiner Gesellschaft, another 3D animated film would be produced under the title Olsen Banden på dybt vand ( The Olsen Gang goes swimming or literally The Olsen Gang in deep water ). Like its predecessor, the film was produced by Nordisk Film and funded in Denmark by the Danish Film Institute's 60/40 regulation .
Nominations
The film was nominated for the Robert Awards 2014 in the categories of Best Children's and Youth Film of 2013 and Audience Award for the Robert , but there was no award.
