Ole-Jørgen Nilsen
Ole-Jørgen Nilsen (born February 28, 1936 in Halden , † June 15, 2008 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian actor and theater manager .
Nilsen trained at the Oslo Theater School and made his debut in 1959, the year he graduated, at the largest stage in the country, the Nationaltheatret . He received his first permanent engagement in 1961 at Trøndelag Teater in Trondheim , where he also worked briefly as a director. From 1968 to 1973 he was a member of the Det Norske Teatret ensemble , the largest Nynorsk theater in the country. During this time he was convincing in some foreign contemporary pieces, for example in the role of van Gogh in Ernst Bruun Olsen's "The Postman of Arles".
After a detour to the Fjernsynsteater of the state broadcasting company NRK , he returned to the National Theater in 1977 . Here he was seen in several major classic productions, such as Henrik Ibsen's Peer Gynt , Friedrich Schiller's Maria Stuart and August Strindberg's Nach Damascus .
From 1961 onwards, Nilsen also gained fame through over twenty film and television roles. He worked in several episodes of the Norwegian Olsen Gang remakes.
In 1978 Nilsen co-founded the Norwegian Actors' Association and was its first chairman. Between 1988 and 1989 he led the Nationaltheatret as artistic director together with Ellen Horn .
