Sverre Årnes (born May 14, 1949 in Nachbaradal , Fylke Møre og Romsdal , Norway ) is a Norwegian writer , comic book writer and screenwriter .

Life

Årnes was born as the second eldest of six brothers in the Norwegian province (Fylke) Møre og Romsdal, in the municipality of nine Nadal and grew up in this area with numerous smaller valleys and villages.

As a writer, Årnes has written over two hundred novels since 1978 , plus around a thousand short stories as well as numerous articles and translations from English into Norwegian. According to his own estimates, over 3 million copies of his works have been sold.

Jordmoren (The Midwife) was one of his well-known series of novels, which he wrote anonymously . It was also his first and longest series of novels. It was published with 66 titles in Norway with a circulation of more than two million copies and also in Poland .

Sverre Årnes wrote from 1994 to 1997 the book series Blodsbånd [Blood Ties] with 25 titles, which were published again from 2004 to 2005 in Norway. From 2003 to 2005 he wrote the novel series Vaterlandsjenta [The Women of the Fatherland] with 16 titles and in 1987 the action thriller COBRA with 8 titles, which were published twice. In addition to another series of novels such as Viking . he also worked as a comic author for the comic series Phantom and Agent 007 and the comic Vangsgutane .

After the provisional end of the Norwegian Olsen Gang film series in 1982, he wrote a screenplay in 1983 for an unrealized continuation of a plot to Hurtigruten -Cuop. Despite appropriate efforts, the manuscript for the film could not be implemented due to financial bottlenecks . The plot of the original screenplay of this film was rewritten or heavily changed by Knut Bohwim and then in 1984 the independent sequel ... men Olsenbanden var ikke død! turned. The texts for the comic were rewritten accordingly by Sverre Årnes and the drawings were designed by Håkon Aasnes here as well as in the following editions . After the success of the first album, Årnes wrote another Olsen Gang comic continuation as a comic writer. All of the Norwegian Olsen Gang comic albums were drawn by comic artist Håkon Aasnes and were all published in Norway until 1988. The director Knut Bohwim also wanted to shoot independent Olsen Gang films as a sequel to the other Norwegian Olsen comics that were published, but he never got the necessary financial means for pre-financing for these projects and could therefore not be realized either.

Årnes also wrote other screenplays for Norwegian films and short films and in 1988 the screenplay for the director Oddvar Bull Tuhus for the movie Blücher . Furthermore, Årnes worked as a director.

In 1986 he was awarded the "Daily Mail Trophy" as a writer and director in London and in 2004 he received a gold medal at the Austrian Eurofilm Movie Competition in Bludenz for his skills as a screenwriter, director and editor. Årnes also wrote scripts for the Norwegian radio theater ( Radioteatret ) from the NRK and produced documentaries.

In 2003 Sverre Årnes moved to the home of his wife Florlien Årnes in the Philippines . His family currently lives there on the island of Bohol with the parents of his Filipino wife and their daughter Angelina Maria Årnes, who continued to work as a writer for Norwegian publishers in his new home.
