Heer-Land is an area on the island of Spitsbergen , which belongs to Svalbard . etymology
Heer-Land is named after Oswald Heer (1809–1883), a Swiss botanist , palaeobotanist and entomologist who, among other things, studied the fossil plants of Svalbard. Heer was a professor at the University of Zurich .
